Ways On How To Hide A WordPress Page From Google and Other Search Engines

1st Method: – Hide or Noindex A WordPress Page From Search Engines By Using Yoast SEO Plugin

This plugin comes with a lot of features for enhancing SEO including an easy to use system which allows you to turn on or off  Nondex and Unfollow. But for this, you need to install this (Yoast) amazing plugin.

Step 1. Go to the WordPress dashboard

Step 2. Make a click on plugins and add new

Step 3. Now you’ll see the search box which is located at the top right, enter Yoast SEO.

Step 4. Make a click on the install button.

Step 5. Once you successfully installed the plugin, you need to go to the page/post that you want to hide/noindex from search engines.

Step 6. Now you need to scroll down to the Yoast SEO meta box and need to make click on the advanced setting button.

Step 7. Here you will see two options (Yes/No) click on and hide your page/post for search engines.

2nd Method: – Noindex or Hide A WordPress Page From Search Engines By Using Robots.txt

If you don’t want to install a plugin and would want to do it all by yourself, then you can it by using robots.txt file in the control panel of your hosting account. It is a file that is located in the root directory of your website that provides your instructions to Google and other search engine bots on which posts and pages to crawl.

Step 1. To start, you need to login to your hosting account’s cPannel and need to click the file manager icon located under the file section.

Step 2. Now you’ll land in the navigation menu and on the left-hand side of your screen, you will see public_html. You have to make a click on it.

Step 3. After this, you’ll need to locate see robots.txt and make a click on edit from the menu at the top of your screen.

Step 4. Now text editor like notepad will open in front of you. You can edit robots.txt file by connecting your site by using File Manager or FTP client in your WordPress hosting cPanel.have to delete any existing text and need to copy and paste the following code.

Step 5. After that, you’ll need to add this text to your robots.txt file.

Disallow:/your-page/
Let’s talk with an example. Suppose this is the URL you want to hide from your website http://www.example.com/2020/3/pricing-page/.
This is how it looks like when you add this URL to your robots.txt file.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /2020/3/pricing-page/

Step 6. At last, you’ll need to save changes and upload robots.txt file back to your server.

You have already installed Yoast SEO plugin now you can easily edit robot.txt file in just a few clicks. Let’s how:

Step 1. Open your WordPress dashboard and click on Yoast

Step 2. On the left-hand side, you’ll see a menu, in that menu, you will need to click on “Tools”

Step 3. Now you will land on the next page where you need to make a click on “File editor”.

Step 5. At last, save your changes ad publish

3rd Method: – Password Protect Your Page or content

The third way to hide/noindex your WordPress page from Google and other search engines are passwords protect. WordPress comes with the inbuilt password protection feature. With this, you can hide your page or post without using any plugin.

Step 1. You need to navigate to the page that you desired to protect and need to go to the publish box.

Step 2. Then click the link labeled “edit” located next to the visibility option.

Step 3. Now you need to select the Password protected option and have to fill in your password in the empty input box.

Step 4. Now its time to make a click on the publish button. Once it got publish only users who know about the password will be able to view your page.
